Critical Thinking - Count the blocks

 Count the Blocks

An important aspect of the reasoning skills is to be able to visualize and see a complete picture. One of the best aid for this I have found in the building blocks/ unifix cubes while teaching. I normally give children a picture and the blocks and ask them to build it as shown in the picture and then count how many blocks are used. After that, I give them a picture and tell them first to predict how many blocks will be used and then make it and write the actual number. This exercise helps them to be able to visualize a  picture and be able to see the parts that are hidden and are not seen in the picture but are needed to complete the picture. Try these sheets for your children and see whether they can visualize and predict clearly.
